Vulkan's product catalogues are presented online
The Hess brand Vulkan relies on myview's PIM solutions for improved product presentation. An online product catalogue enables Vulkan to publish and update its range of high-quality outdoor lights without delay. The focus is on the clear presentation of the various products, including technical details and dimensional specifications. With the support of the agency medienreaktor, myview realises a complete integration of the product data in the web area.
An online catalogue with impact
The Hess brand Vulkan stands for technically high-quality outdoor lighting ‘Made in Germany’ - and has done so for well over a century.
Vulkan's roots go back to the year 1898. This makes Vulkan one of the oldest brands in the lighting industry and it enjoys a particularly high reputation in German-speaking countries.
Vulkan offers cities, municipalities and energy suppliers technically advanced products that ensure standard-compliant illumination of roads, traffic junctions, danger spots, pedestrian zones and public facilities.

A product catalogue in just a few weeks
The data supply for the Vulkan online catalogue is based on the upstream PIM system xmedia. The online catalogue is to be embedded in the website, which is based on the TYPO3 web CMS. An interface is required for the desired functional basis of the online catalogue so that data can be exchanged directly and at any time.
This interface is xom from myview. The REST API from xom enables a direct connection between the PIM system and the display of the catalogue on the website.
In concrete terms, this means that rule-based synchronisation processes have been set up in the PIM system xmedia to ensure a continuous database. This ensures that the current product range is always available on the website.
The editorial work in the product range is carried out in the xmedia modules DataManager and ViewEditor Data can be inserted and maintained here without any detours.
This is directly linked to the configuration of the information selection and display areas. So-called show values are set for individual information elements. These are closely linked to the structure of the website and combine different values for the data output. The PIM link is particularly noticeable in the product detail pages.
Another module from the xmedia family is the TranslationManager. It manages translation-relevant data and significantly supports the translation workflow. The entire online catalogue is therefore also available in English in the shortest possible time.
The ViewEditor for editorial editing and the TranslationManager for translation tasks result in a highly flexible online catalogue without having to intervene in the programming of the website.
This approach has resulted in the complete dynamisation of the web product structure, which can be freely controlled by the upstream PIM system xmedia. The result is a synergy of xmedia and xom.
This allows customers and sales staff to view Vulkan's products directly and unhindered at any time.
